Annual Fundraising Appeals

Make-A-Wish Michigan’s annual fundraising appeals are direct mailed to over 20,000 supporters and supported by two months of social media and email marketing outreach.
Roles: Graphic Designer | Production Manager
Outcomes: The 2019 appeal saw a 67% increase in donations from 2018 and the 2020 appeal saw a 60% increase from 2019.
Process: Previous years’ designs were modular and corporate. To reflect the child-like nature of the mission, I designed the 2020 appeal to be bright, organic, and hopeful.
To draw more attention to the appeal envelopes in a stack of mail, I increased the amount of color used and added donation information to the back of the envelope so recipients could donate without ever opening the letter. Using black and white with our primary brand color kept us under budget, but still provided some eye-candy in a mailbox.
